Pharmacogenomics: Personalizing Medicine

Everyone is familiar with the job of a pharmacist at the local grocery or drug store—but there’s so much more to the pharmaceutical profession.

Take pharmacogenomics for instance— Progress in DNA sequencing technology allows us to sequence the genome for less than $1,000. Information in the genome allows pharmacists to predict how an individual will react to a certain drug.

Join us online for a webinar about pharmacogenomics led by Dr. Samit Shah, Dean of the Regis University School of Pharmacy. Dr. Shah will introduce you to this exciting new field and show you how pharmacists are using this science to select the right drug and dosage tailored to an individual’s genetic makeup.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Samit Shah serves as the Dean of the Regis University School of Pharmacy. Prior to this position, he served as the Sidney J. Weinberg Professor and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the KGI School of Pharmacy. He also served as the Department Chair of Biopharmaceutical Sciences at KGI. Dr. Shah is a pharmacist by training and has also received a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from UMKC, post-doctoral training at MIT and an MBA from South University. He is a 2016-17 Fellow of the AACP Academic Leadership Fellows Program.
